About Dr. David K. Faux - Current Research
The Author
Dr. David K. Faux was born in Ontario, and raised in Quebec, Canada. He studied Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Guelph in Guelph. Further graduate studies were in Physiology and Experimental Surgery at the University of Alberta in Edmonton; Psychology at McGill University in Montreal; and Medical Sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from McMaster University in 1985. Dr. Faux became a Certified Psychologist in Ontario in 1986. Over the years he taught Psychology at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario; and Psychology as well as Psychopharmacology at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California. Furthermore he was a Clinical Neuropsychologist at Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta (general psychiatric and "criminally insane" populations); a Learning Disabilities specialist in various locations; as well as a Forensic Psychologist in private practice working in the area of child protection and custody and access. Dr. Faux was also a Medical Scientist, and was co - owner of an international DNA testing company called EthnoAncestry. He retired in 2007 and he and his wife now reside in Caledonia, Haldimand County, Ontario (where in 1783 his ancestors became the first permanent residents, after the American Revolution) - residing close to his large family in Southern and Eastern Ontario. They also have a home in Cypress, California. Research has recently focused on three areas - Genealogical, DNA and Haudenosaunee. Genealogy and Ancestor Research
- The quest to learn more of my ancestry began in 1975 and continues to this day. Having been blessed with knowing elders in the family (e.g., my great great aunt), I was able to combine what they told me with archival research to trace and document my family, including ancestors who were, for example, UE Loyalists, Palatine Germans, Dutch from New Amsterdam, recent immigrants from Britain, Native Americans, and African-Americans. Also to be found here is, for example, information on pioneer home sites of ancestors, a detailed story of the restoration of the early Young family cemetery on the Grand River, Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Service records, and how it came about that I appeared on an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries" with Robert Stack in 1995.
- I have included biographies of an ever increasing number of my ancestors: Paternal - FAUX, WILLIAMS, SEXTON, HIPKIN, HODGETTS, WORRILL, MILLER; Maternal - WILLIAMSON, DAWSON, DUNHAM, SLEGHT, YOUNG-JUNG, HILL, WINDECKER, SCHREMLING, WALRATH, MATTEUS, TERRYBERRY, STEERS (STAIRS), PICKARD, MCCORMACK, BAIN. The majority have been confirmed as biological ancestors through DNA matching with a wide variety of relatives including third to tenth cousins. Hopefully this information will be helpful to relatives near and distant.

DNA Research
- Between 2004 and 2007 I was the co-owner of a DNA testing company called EthnoAncestry; and have tested with all major commercial firms.
- Here I have added some of Y-chromosome (paternal grandfather - Danish Vikings; maternal grandfather - Norwegian Vikings) and autosomal DNA studies that came out of my experiences in this field.
- Also I have explored ethnic ancestry and more recent family connections using DNA and genetics. One goal has been to plot the origin of each segment on each of the 22 pairs of chromosomes (autosomes). In other words which great - great grandparent "donated" each of the chromosomal segments.
- Thanks to advances in the field of ancient DNA since 2015, I have been able to assemble a number of studies of personal interest that hinge on the new technology which underpins this expanding discipline.
Haudenosaunee - Six Nations Research
- After researching my own roots in this community, I wrote a book on Six Nations genealogy. My interest in the Six Nations of the Grand River was also reflected in studies of the history and archaeology of the Haudenosaunee. Therefore I have included here studies from all these fields, for example studies of the 18th and 19th Century Lower Cayuga settlements.
- Since 2006 my efforts have been directed toward replacing myth and spin with facts and the truth concerning current topics such as the widely accepted "Nanfan Treaty of 1701"; and the belief that there still remains unsurrendered / unceded land in the Haldimand Tract. Many of these studies will prove useful to, for example, green energy or land development companies being extorted based on false claims; all levels of government in the attempt to separate fact from fiction in dealing with land claims; and the Ontario Provincial Police in their duty to "serve and protect" the citizens of Haldimand County in cases of domestic terrorism. Also added is a study of the Mohawk settlements in the Mohawk Valley, NY from 1710 to 1790; and an update of my 1984 manuscript about the Mohawk Village on the Grand River from 1784 to 1864.
